I want to make healthy puree for my baby, but I don’t know how to do it by hand. So, I end up buying them a baby food maker instead. But that’s expensive and bulky, so that doesn’t really help me if I’m going to be making my own meal-in-meal purees in the future.
I know there is a special blender you can use and the purees are ready in a matter of minutes, but they are really expensive. I don’t care about buying one, but I do really want to make my own purees.
So I decided to just make it myself using the regular blender that I have, because I like doing things on my own rather than buying a machine that probably didn’t work so well as the ones that were replaced.
What I did was to puree a portion of the soup (or whatever I’m cooking) by using our blender. Make sure that it’s not filled with water or else you may have a bad time.
I then let it cool down after turning off the heat, and put it inside the freezer for an hour or so. Then I made sure that I have used glass containers because you don’t want your food to actually come in touch with plastic, especially now that it’s pureed because babies tend to gulp everything up and swallowing a piece of plastic is a big no-no!
Afterwards, all I had to do was take it out and serve my baby. I was able to do that just by putting it in a container, but if you want, you can freeze it for later and then put it in the fridge as well to keep longer.
How Do You Make Baby Food Without A Food Maker?
I have actually made a video tutorial of how I did it. This is a great video just to see how you can make your own puree using the blender and containers as shown in the video. I also like that they mention that they use an ice cube tray, but you can use any form of container you want.
Instructions:
1. Pour broth into blender and blend until smooth (it will be in chunks at this point).
2. Add rice cereal and blend until completely mixed up.
3. Pour mixture into ice cube trays and freeze overnight.
4. Pop them out and store in freezer safe bags or containers in the freezer.
5. When you need a baby-sized portion, just thaw it a little bit first and then serve!
Do I Need A Blender For Baby Food?
Because of how I do it, I don’t actually use a food processor because I don’t need to blend the food until mushy. There are certain baby foods that you really want to avoid making in a blender like Jell-O, because the gelatin from the meat or candy will clog up your blender or the blades of your blender and can make for a really gross mess.
What about other baby foods? You can puree them by using a food processor. It won’t be as quick and simple as making it by hand but since you only need to process one item at a time and not several at once, it’s not so hard to achieve your goal.
How To Puree Baby Food Without A Blender?
If you don’t have a blender, you can still make baby food for your baby without it. You just need to put your cooked food in a bowl and put it in the microwave and let the microwave heat it up until the steam comes out. Let it cool down a little bit and then serve.
How To Puree Baby Food With A Blender
If you want to use your blender, then all I can say is whatever kind of blender you have that works best for you! The one I have will puree everything from soups or sauces to pureed apples, almond milk and more. It will even make a purée’d fish or chicken with no problems at all.
How To Puree Tomatoes Without A Blender?
Although you can use a blender to purée tomatoes, I find that just adding more tomatoes and letting them steam in the microwave until they turn mushy works really well. It takes a little bit longer but it still gets the job done.
How To Puree Soup Without A Blender?
You can use any kind of liquid steamer to make your soup puree. You will just have to put the soup in the container, cover it and turn it on for about 7 minutes. Let it cool down and serve.
Final Thoughts:
If you want to make your own baby food, you can do it easily by using one of the methods that I have mentioned above. Babies are malleable and will like anything you put in front of them, but you may as well start them out on healthy foods from the very beginning so that they will grow up to be happy and healthy adults.
Hopefully, this post gave you a few ideas on how you can make your own baby food. If anyone has any suggestions or comments on this topic, please feel free to leave a comment below. Thank you.
