The KitchenAid Mixer colors are a common subject amongst the blogosphere, with people wondering which color goes with which mixer. This post will break down each color and compare them to corresponding mixer models of the past and present. If you’re looking for a way to find out what colors go with your kitchen aid, this is exactly what you need!
Today’s post takes a closer look at the colors used for different KitchenAid mixers, including models from years gone by as well as those present today.
For this post, I’ve compiled color information for stand mixers and bowl gift sets. Not all colors are available for all models, but I have included the most common colors for each to give you the most information possible. Ingredients will be listed matching only those colors available in the product.
Some of you may be wondering why there is so much difference in the paint color options available today on KitchenAid and their predecessors from years gone by. Particularly with KitchenAid’s bowl gift sets (HGKBS), this can be a very confusing topic to understand, as they don’t list any paint colors! The HGKBSs only include two paint options: “Antique White” and “Natural. The “Natural” color is a mix of White and Ivory, while the “Antique White” is a mix of Light Sand and Ivory. The difference between the two paints is that the “Antique White” has more of an aged look to it which can be seen in their older mixer models.
It’s important to note that some of the colors listed below may be outdated or misrepresenting, as they may not be available on new models. I have included old colors on these models to show the evolution of color change. Also, there may be some minor differences in color listed below between the mixer and the bowl gift set. The bowl gift set will generally have fewer choices than the stand mixer, so their paint options are usually limited to two colors, one called “Antique White” and another called “Natural.” In some cases, I’ve also included a third color in my list that is called “Refinished Black.” This is a kind of textured black which isn’t available as an official paint option, but it seems to be something that KitchenAid gives out for free occasionally for their Black & Gold mixers.
Currently, there are no color options for the following mixers:
XVG400
XVG600HG
XVG800HG (not available in the US)
KHS-100BT (also not available in the US) These models have a metallic color only. KitchenAid has confirmed that they are not releasing new paint options for these models. It seems that they simply stick with metallic colors throughout their product line. If you’re interested in buying one of these models, please contact them directly to ask them to consider painting the mixer with a more normal Choices paint.

These are the current mixer models, which include the Artisan series, classic series, power pro series, and classic 595 stand mixers. For the classics, “Antique White” is one of two paint colors available for this model. There are no color options available for the KSM150 or KSM160 (which were discontinued in 2003), as they have been replaced by more modern models such as the KSM150XLL. All other colors were discontinued after around 2007 except for “Antique White.

The following mixers were discontinued in 2007. If you can’t find your model here, it means there are no current paint options. It’s not necessarily impossible to find one, but if this is the case, please contact KitchenAid directly to see what options they might offer in a future release.

(also not available in the US) These models have metallic paint only. KitchenAid has confirmed that they are not releasing new paint options for these models. The KSB3 is no longer available, as it was replaced by the KSM150XLL. All other colors were discontinued after around 2007 except for “Antique White. KSB3.
KitchenAid – Colors of Past Models, Yellow Stamps and Vintage Paints (Updated 9 February 2008). Before KitchenAid switched to their new paint schemes in 2005, they also experimented with a few different color combinations. Here’s what they came up with, along with an approximate date when they were offered:
KitchenAid – Classic 595 Mixer (Updated on 15 February 2008)
The following mixers have only two paint options: Antique White and Natural. These are only the paint options for models introduced in 2005. All other models before that date, and all of their older “Vintage” paint combinations are no longer available due to cost-cutting attempts by KitchenAid.
As of October 2004, the KSB3 was replaced by the KSM150XL, which also has metallic paint only. The KSB4 was replaced by the KSM150XLL in 2001. From what I understand, none of these older mixers have any current paint options.

The following mixers have a third choice of paint color: Antique White. Some of these mixers were discontinued in 2007, others have only two available colors.

What is the most popular color of KitchenAid mixer?
The most popular color of KitchenAid mixer at the moment is probably “Onyx Black”. This could be because the new Artisan mixers are just so popular, and are offered in this color. It could also be for other reasons. Clearly though, the color of your mixer is a matter of personal taste. I was going to say that everyone has their own favorite, but it seems the most common answer is black! Two new colors have recently been added to the Artisan line in black and sugar glider (a light grey). Sugar glider was chosen because it looks metallic without being too flashy. Everyone has their own favorite color as well as reasoning behind why they like it so much.
How do I choose a KitchenAid mixer color?
Choosing a mixer color is probably one of the most difficult tasks associated with purchasing one. There are so many factors involved in making that decision. One KA member put it this way, “If you make the wrong color choice, you’re stuck with it.” It’s actually not that bad because you can always paint over white, but if you buy a mixer in pink and then want to get rid of it later, well.
What colors are KitchenAid mixers?

How many colors of KitchenAid mixers are there?
There are 30 colors of Kitchenaid mixer. However, some of these colors are not available in certain countries. Please see the color chart at the bottom of my blog post. This is an image with all of the colors I could find in it.
Are green and yellow mixers a good idea?
I think it’s a great idea! Whether you’re looking for a retro look or just something that stands out from the crowd, there have been many unusual color combinations offered by KitchenAid over the years. These can be found on their own web site if you know where to look.
