It’s the middle of summer and you’re craving some tasty, sweet whipped cream. But unfortunately, you didn’t prep your ingredients at the beginning of this glorious day and now your only options are to A) make a mountain of whipped cream out of heavy cream and high powered beaters with an hour-long output or B) take a minute to freeze some liquid whip, then scrape it up with dirties utensils. Fortunately for us, there is another way!
While freezing liquid whip can get the job done in less than a minute (but still requires dirtying utensils), we have a more efficient process that can be completed in seconds without breaking out the hand mixer or whisk.
Quick Tip 1: Pick a container that can seal liquid in if it isn’t completely full. The link to the left of the image is a 1 liter bottle that has had a hole cut in it with a dremel after freezing, but before adding the whip mix. The benefit of this style over using an empty whipped cream canister is that you can transfer the whip cream to it’s original container and keep it in your freezer for later.
Quick Tip 2: When you’re done whipping, leave the container in the freezer for about 30 minutes so that it can solidify and retain its shape.
How to Make Whipped Cream Without a Mixer or Whisk!
Equipment required: 1 liter soft drink bottle and dremel, a knife, spoon, scraper and freezer. Using a knife or spoon, scrape up all of the whip cream from inside the frozen canister. Then twist off the top and bottom half of the canister with an opener or some other tool that has a large enough opening to scrape out all of the whipped cream.
Next, open the plastic soda bottle and remove the lid. With a dremel, carefully cut a hole in the top of the soda bottle that is big enough for your spoon or scraper to fit into. Finally, fill up your bottle with whip cream from inside your canister. If you miss some while pouring it in, don’t worry because you’re going to scrape it out later anyways!
Pop your lid on and put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. When you come back, use your spoon or scraper to scoop out all of the frozen whip cream like you would ice cream. Then it’s ready to serve!
You’ve probably seen fresh whipped cream topping many of your favorite desserts and it can also be a great addition to coffee or tea. Making homemade whipped cream is easy and is one of those desserts that always impresses. But if you’re like me, you might find yourself asking how do I make whipped cream without a mixer or whisk?
Well, my friend, the answer is simple: the hand mixer! Many convenience stores have hand mixers in their kitchens so no need to run out. Just gather the ingredients, whip them together and you’ll have fresh whipped cream in no time.
I have used this method multiple times and it is always a success. Here is everything you need to know before trying it out for yourself:
Ingredients:
1 cup heavy whipping cream ½ tablespoon powdered sugar (optional) dash of vanilla extract Method: 1. Prepare your bowl, whisk attachment and add your ingredients.
2. Start on a low setting and gradually increase the power to high.
3. Just like when a hand mixer is used for meringue, keep whipping until stiff peaks form (about 5 minutes total).
4. Place in a covered container in the refrigerator or freezer to chill.
I just love making homemade whipped cream! It is so quick and easy and I can make it as sweet as I like which allows me to add more or less sugar depending on my tastes. The only substitution I would make is to use powdered sugar instead of granulated and add a dash of vanilla extract to add an extra level of flavor.
If you’re looking to impress guests, whip up a few tablespoons with some whipped cream and homemade strawberry sauce. It will be nothing short of the perfect dessert!
Can you make whipped cream without a whisk attachment?
You could, but like most desserts you wouldn’t want to make it in the same way you would for meringue. Instead, you’d need to start by adding your cream and powdered sugar or whatever flavoring you want. You can then use a hand mixer until stiff peaks form. A hand mixer is definitely not necessary to make whipped cream, but I just love how easy making my own cream is with it. A hand mixer really simplifies my life in the kitchen and it’s great to have one at all times. If you need to whip up some whipped cream without a whisk, no problem! Just use a regular whisk, like this one , that you can get at the grocery store and get going.
What kind of whisks do you buy?
I just love having whisks around the house because of how versatile they are. I have mine in different sizes and colors so I can match them with the rest of my kitchen tools. I also have a classic stainless steel whisk for even more versatility. Best of all, you can use them for many other things besides making creamy desserts like soups and sauces!
What kind of whisk do you use?
I own an OXO Good Grips Modern Silicone Professional Whisk . This is a great option if you’re looking to make whipped cream. It has a silicone head that doesn’t slip around and is easy to clean by hand. If you’ve never used a whisk before, this one is a perfect choice because it will get the job done quickly and safely. If you know how to use a whisk, then I’d suggest investing in something better.
Can you manually whip cream?
Yes. While the hand mixer is best for whipping single ingredients, if you need to whip up a lot of cream and have no other tools to work with, you can do it manually as well. Just start by adding your cream, powdered sugar, and flavoring to a bowl or any other container that will hold it. You can then use a whisk like this one until stiff peaks form.
How long does Cream need to freeze before using?
I keep my whipped cream in the freezer almost all of the time because I am always making something sweet (like these Salted Caramel Blondies ) that I want to enjoy soon after they’re made. I usually leave it in the freezer for about an hour before I get started pouring it on my desserts. You can even keep your whipping cream in the fridge if you need to use it right away, but you’ll want to stick with fresh whipping cream if that’s the case.
What is whipped cream?
Whipped cream is a semi-thick mixture of cream and sugar that has been whipped together until soft peaks form and then served over desserts. It’s a classic dessert topping that can be served with almost any dessert. However, it can also be used for other purposes like making frosted whipped cream cookies for topping or layering into ice cream floats .
CONCLUSION:
As you can see, making homemade whipped cream is easy and can be done by anyone. Making it at home is a great choice because you get to control what goes in your cream, how sweet it is, and add just about any flavor you want. And if you love making fresh whipped cream, then the hand mixer will make this home cooking experience even better.
