If you’re looking for a mixer to use in the kitchen, you’ll find that there are a lot of options. So which is the best one? In this post, I’m going to break down the different Hamilton Beach mixers so that it can be easier for you to decide which one is right for your needs.
In case you didn’t know, Hamilton Beach has two distinct lines of stand mixers: The standard line and the Electric line. These two lines have some major differences between them, especially when it comes to their power sources and abilities. The standard line mixers can be plugged into an outlet or there can be a battery pack to power the mixer. The Electric line mixers have their own proprietary battery pack, which is charged off the outlet and when it runs out of juice, you can connect it to a regular outlet.

The bowl is a good size at 4.5 quarts and it comes with three attachments: the wire whisk, the flat beater, and the dough hook. As far as standard mixers go, this is a pretty decent one. A lot of people have this in addition to an electric mixer (which I will talk about below). The major downside to this model is that its power cord is only 18″ long – not very long at all.
There’s also no LED display on this model, so you have to actually use a timer to make sure you’re mixing for the right amount of time. That’s something that a lot of people don’t like about this model. But if you’re someone who mostly cooks for yourself, or you don’t need the digital display, then this might be the best option for you.
Hamilton Beach 467490 Stand Mixer: This is one of Hamilton Beach’s most popular stand mixers. It weighs 14.2 pounds, and is 17.5″ x 8″ x 12″ in size. It comes with four attachments: the flat beater, wire whisk, dough hook, and its own whisk to mix your dry ingredients together as well as your wet ingredients together. One of the major problems that this mixer has is that it tends to be a bit noisy when you’re using it.
You can hear the motor running pretty loudly, so if you want to use this one in close quarters with other people, it might not be the best mixer for you. But aside from that, I’ve had good experiences with this model and overall think it’s a good option to consider, especially since there are quite a few accessories available for it.
Hamilton Beach 467490 Stand Mixer w/ Built-in Bowl Cover: This is an updated version of the above model, but I think it’s still worth checking out because there are several differences between them. The best version for me overall would be the 467490, but if you want to go with this model, then the main difference is that it comes with a bowl cover to prevent splatters. This one also weighs a bit more (16 pounds) at 17.5″ x 9″ x 12″ in size. Like I said before, I think this is still a decent model and you can find several accessories on Amazon that you can use with it.
Hamilton Beach 7-Speed Stand Mixer: This is Hamilton Beach’s newest stand mixer. It weighs only 12 pounds, so it’s lighter than both of the above models and can be used by most people without much trouble. This is their best-selling stand mixer at the moment, so I think it’s worth checking out.
As you’ve probably noticed, it has 7 speeds rather than 5 like the previous models. The downside to this one is that the motor isn’t as powerful as the others but it still gets the job done. It comes with a flat beater, wire whisk, and dough hook; and while they don’t include a cover for you, there are several accessories available on Amazon that are designed to fit this model.
Hamilton Beach Professional Stand Mixer: This is basically a beefed-up version of the 7-speed mixer above. It weighs in at a hefty 15 pounds, so it might be too heavy for most people to use. To me, this mixer is basically the same as the 7-speed version except it includes a bowl cover and some additional accessories that can be used with it (depending on where you buy it). It’s a decent option if you want something more powerful than the other models, but I think there are better options available.
Hamilton Beach Cordless Mixer: This mixer isn’t for everyone, but I think it’s good for people who have limited kitchen space and don’t want to keep any kind of mixer permanently set up in their kitchen. It weighs only 10 pounds, so you can place it on a counter without worrying about the whole thing tipping over. It also has a powerful motor that can mix ingredients up to 2 pounds in weight (so if you have a bunch of small ingredients to mix together, this might be your best option).
To get the most out of this one, I would recommend getting an attachable bowl cover or making sure all your ingredients are small enough to fit in one bowl at once. The downside to this model is that it only comes with one accessory (a whisk) so you’ll have to buy additional attachments if you want to use this one.
Hamilton Beach 5-Speed Hand Mixer: This mixer is for people who want something more portable than the previous models but may not need all the power that the stand mixers provide. It weighs in at under 2 pounds, so it’s easy to take with you wherever you go. The mixer is a bit loud, though (as are most hand mixers), and the attachment isn’t as long as I would like it to be. But if you’re looking for a basic hand mixer or an attachment for your other mixer, then this one could work well for you. It comes with a whisk and a dough hook, but nothing else.
Chef’n PowerPro Stand Mixer: This mixer can be used as a traditional stand mixer or it can be used as hand mixer when you remove the “stand” from the bottom. It only weighs 5.5 pounds, so it’s extremely portable and easy to take with you wherever you go (I travel with mine often). It comes with 3 attachments: the flat beater, wire whisk, and dough hook. It’s not as powerful as the other Hamilton Beach models, so I would only recommend this for people who don’t need a powerful mixer. Otherwise, most of the other Hamilton Beach models listed above would be a better choice for you.
Is Hamilton Beach as good as KitchenAid?
Overall, I think Hamilton Beach is a good brand and definitely not bad for the more budget-conscious folks. There are several different options to choose from in their line that you can look at, which means a lot of different people can find products to fit their needs. But in my opinion, Hamilton Beach has the least expensive stand mixers (by far) so I wouldn’t necessarily say they’re as good as KitchenAid (which costs more money).
But it’s entirely up to you whether you want something that’s just as good as KitchenAid or if you’d rather save some money and go with something like this one. When it comes right down to it, the “best” mixer is the one that you feel comfortable using; so if you can do an honest comparison between the two and feel like you’ll get more use out of this one, then go for it.
Which stand mixer has the most power?
When it comes down to it, most people are interested in how powerful a stand mixer is. What I mean by that is, how fast and effectively can you mix something? Will it be able to handle certain recipes or do certain tasks? This question will differ from person-to-person because everyone has different needs.

But if you’re looking for something a little more affordable, then my winner would be this one since it’s both affordable and powerful at the same time.

Even though this is a “budget” option, I think it’s definitely a good mixer. Most people are looking for something that’s easy to use and can get the job done. This one can do that, and there are quite a few options available so you should be able to find one that fits your needs well enough for you to use regularly.
What is the best wattage for a stand mixer?
Sometimes you’ll have a recipe that requires a lot of power, like when you’re making bread. If that’s the case, then you’ll try to find a mixer with more power behind it. But most of the time, I’d recommend going with something in the low-to-mid 500 watt range for stand mixers (like the previous models).
Those are usually good enough to get the job done without having you strain your eyes from straining or cringing from holding your arm in an awkward position. But if you want something just a bit more powerful than that, then this model is great because it offers both high and low speeds on its motor.
