Food Processor Alternatives In 2022: Know Our Top Picks

In 2022, there will be no more food processor alternatives. Not because they won’t exist. But, because all the top brands have filed for bankruptcy and stopped production, following the blades of a blender to their graves.

The food processor is an amazing appliance for a few reasons. It will chop vegetables, minces meat and fish, knead dough and you can even blend cakes and ice creams.

Some of the brands that have gone bust include, Edmee, Chefman,  Korbrez, Viennese, Fafavit and VitaMix. In their place are decent alternatives (such as the Blendtec) that cost more but offer equally good results at a fraction of the price. If you don’t see your favourite brand on this list then don’t worry. Most other brands are still alive and kicking.

Due to a combination of factors – rising costs and unreliable manufacturing practices – and in anticipation of the transfer market, most churn out cheaper knockoffs that are typically not worth buying. In response to this situation we’ve scoured reviews across different forums to compile this list of 9 quality food processors you should consider purchasing in 2023 so that your future family dinners stay delicious!

So, if you’re looking to replace your blender, microwave or food processor with a new piece of kitchen technology then this list is a must read.

1. Blendtec Total Blender

Best for: Blending, Juicing, Making Smoothies and Apple Sauce

We are big fans of the Blendtec Total Blender which cost around $500 USD but can be found for around $300 (sometimes less). We got our hands on this model about 4 months ago and the difference it has made to our lives is amazing. It isn’t the best blender you can get (we’ve had good experiences with the Ninja and Blendtastic) but it certainly stands out from other brands we’ve reviewed.

The Blendtec is the tallest and heaviest model we’ve reviewed and consists of a powerful motor that handles a wide range of tasks (it even makes bullets!). It will blend, juice, knead dough, crush ice and grate carrots with ease. It’s not going to smash frozen strawberries into a smooth sludge or mince tomatoes into perfect chunks but if you’re looking for something that performs all task then this is the model to get.

2. Porlex Mini

This is a great little machine that does it all. It’s one of the more popular food processor alternatives out there and will certainly provide you with a good meal for around $100 USD.

The Porlex Mini is easy to use, comes with all the attachments you’ll need to get started (including a mincer) and is compact enough to fit into your kitchen draws without taking up too much space. It’s also quite powerful so can easily handle juicing and grinding tasks in addition to mashing and blending but you’d have to look hard in order to find a cheaper alternative that’s as good as this one.

3. Philips Viva Collection HR7761

Best for: Mixing, Grating and Whipping

If you’re looking for a cheap food processor alternative then the Philips Viva Collection HR7761 is a great model to go for. It’s currently selling on Amazon (see link below) for around $90 USD and offers you a wide range of attachments that can be used to whip, mix, slice and mash. It also comes with an inbuilt mixer so you don’t need an extra attachment to whisk eggs or cream.

The downside to this machine is that some people have reported breaking it after using it sparingly (less than 3 times!) so if you’re looking for something that will last then this may not be the best option. It performs well, is better than some other models out there and is quite popular with customers so it’s worth checking out if you’re on a tight budget.

4. Blendsmart

Best for: Blending, Chopping, Slicing and Grating

This isn’t your average food processor alternative. It’s more of an all-in-one machine that can make smoothies, juice whatever you can throw at it and even whip eggs and cream. You may have to clean up a bit after using it but the end result is delicious.

The Blendsmart is very versatile, affordable and comes with the attachments you will need to get started. It’s not going to be able to compete with models on this list but for $99 USD you could do a lot worse. It isn’t the best food processor alternative out there but it’s pretty good and definitely worth considering.

In this article we’ve listed the best blenders for juicing that are available right now. We’ve looked at what each blender is capable of, how easy they are to clean and how much they cost.

What can I use if I don’t have a food processor or blender?

If you don’t have a blender or food processor then you could be wondering what you can use instead of those. While you could go with a hand mixer and beat the mixture by hand then transfer it to another container to serve (a process known as “whipping” or “mixing” by hand), we recommend that you buy one of the following products:

What is a Cuisinart Food Processor?

A food processor is a machine that can be used to make different types of food (usually known as meals). We have many different types of food processors on this list ranging from very simple presses to more powerful units. There are a few key differences between each type but for the most part, they all do the same thing and all make similar foods.

What to do if you don’t have a pulser?

If you don’t have a food processor then you will probably be willing to sacrifice some of the power it offers in order to save money. If that’s the case then we recommend that you buy a handheld blender (see section above for a list of products).

What is a juicer?

A juicer is similar to a food processor in that it can be used to make many different types of meals (foods). However, instead of using blades and two containers like a food processor does, juicers use one container (called the “blender”) which contains a powerful motor and will run at higher speeds until everything has been extracted from the juice.

Can you pulse with a hand mixer?

Pulse is a function that most food processors and blenders have. It will allow you to start the machine and then stop it so that you can add certain ingredients in at certain times (although not all pulse functions will let you do this). For example, if you wanted to add a handful of fresh herbs at the end of your blending cycle, you could use the pulse feature to add them in slowly.

How can I pulse flour without a food processor?

If you don’t have a food processor or blender then you probably won’t be able to pulse flour. However, some other blenders have this function built in (such as the blender above) and so you can use those to help you out.

What is a smoothie?

A smoothie is basically a blend of different types of ingredients that are then mixed together. A blender is perfect for making smoothies as it will combine all of the ingredients together very quickly which gives your drink a very smooth consistency. There are many different types of smoothies but most will contain fruits, some vegetables and perhaps protein powder or collagen for added nutritional benefits.

Hopefully, after reading this article you now have a better idea of what to look for if you want to buy a blender. You should also be aware of the different types of food processor and blender and know how to use each type.
