KitchenAid Mixer Classic Vs Plus Review

The KitchenAid Mixer Classic is a multi-purpose, stand mixer designed for all kitchen tasks and it is ideal for use in both homes and professional settings. This mixer comes in two models: the 3.5 L model and the 4 L model.

With this review I’m currently reviewing the 4 L model, which has an extra speed toggle (1st to 3rd) compared to the other models. The top speed of these mixers is low but gets up there with slower speeds of a hand-held whisk or immersion blender when grinding/whipping ingredients for sauces, meringues etc.

TIP: If you are an avid baker like me, I highly recommend investing in a mixer that has multiple mixing speeds. This allows for greater control and limits the chances of over-mixing because you can keep the speed low when mixing delicate ingredients into batters.

Now, one of the great things about this mixer is that it comes with all the features you need to perform several kitchen tasks. However, it doesn’t come with additional tools or attachments which means that if you want to make specific dough or batter recipes, you’ll have to first look into buying an extra attachment.

While attachments do add to the overall price tag of the mixer, they are necessary if you need to make specific recipes, so you should always factor in the cost of additional attachments when comparing prices between different KitchenAid mixers. This is especially important if you want to be able to make bread doughs because all models of the stand mixer only come with a flat beater.

The Classic 4 L model comes in two colours: Caramel Ice (which I have) and Pearl Chrome. So this review will focus mainly on that model although other parts of it can be used as a reference for other models as well.

The KitchenAid stand mixer comes with a wide range of features that will make your cooking/baking easier. Some of the features are:

Powerful 325-watt motor: With this power, all of your mixing tasks including kneading bread dough or whipping cream, will be able to be done in a flash.

Beater-Ejector system: With this system you can remove the beaters from the mixer bowl without any difficulty. But to make sure that everything is secure when you are mixing something, always attach the whips after pressing down the ejector.

Which one is better, KitchenAid Classic or KitchenAid Plus?

The KitchenAid Classic is a multi-purpose, stand mixer designed for all kitchen tasks and it is ideal for use in both homes and professional settings.

The KitchenAid Plus on the other hand has the same great features as our classic model but with more options. It comes with a pouring shield, dough hook and whips.

So which one is better? Their capabilities are pretty much the same and it really just comes down to what you need your mixer for. If you only need to mix batters/doughs occasionally, you can get away with a classic model but if you are planning to make bread dough every week then I would recommend getting the PLUS model.

Which one is more expensive, KitchenAid Classic or Plus?

The KitchenAid Classic is about $30 cheaper than the KitchenAid Plus. But do keep in mind that you will need to purchase an extra attachment if you want to mix bread doughs. So if you add the cost of an extra attachment (dough hook or folding mixer), the Classic model becomes more expensive than the Plus model.

TIP: If you don’t want to spend more on the attachments, then I would recommend going with a classic model because it comes with a flat beater for mixing doughs. They are just as good as any other attachment on offer, and it is one less thing that you’ll have to purchase.

Which mixer has more attachments, KitchenAid Classic or plus?

The KitchenAid Classic has a flat beater and whip but that’s it. If you want to mix dough you will have to purchase either a dough hook or get the PLUS model which comes with a dough hook and also additional attachments.

Which mixer is more powerful, KitchenAid Classic or Plus?

This is something that I find very interesting because it doesn’t seem like there would be much of a difference in power between the two models. However, according to KitchenAid’s website, the Classic 4 L is 325 watts while the PLUS 4 L model is 325 watts as well. This would indicate that they are both equally as powerful and will do what you need them for without any problems at all.

What is the difference between KitchenAid Classic and Plus?

The KitchenAid Classic comes with a flat beater, dough hook and wire whip. The PLUS model has a 2-speed, 2-directions motor and cord storage meaning that you can move around while using it without the cord getting in your way. The PLUS also comes with 1/3 hp intuitive controls and additional accessories.

I think they are pretty much identical but this is purely because there isn’t really any difference between them to begin with.

Which one has a bigger bowl capacity, KitchenAid Classic or kitchenaid plus?

Whilst both models have the same bowl capacity of 4 L, the Classic model has a heavier body than that of the Plus model which means that it won’t be as easy to move around when using it.

Which mixer is easier to clean, KitchenAid Classic or Kitcheaid Plus?

The PLUS model only has one removable bowl so you can clean it very easily. The Classic model on the other hand still has a copious amount of removable attachments which you will have to clean manually.

Which mixer is sturdier, KitchenAid Classic or Plus?

The Plus model has a stronger body which can withstand the weight of a larger sized mixer bowl and the additional accessories like dough hooks and beaters without any problem. The Classic model on the other hand looks more fragile and it may not be as sturdy if your bowl breaks, but I think that this will only happen with extreme circumstances.

Final Thoughts:

So there you have it, my list of my top 3 KitchenAid stand mixers. The KitchenAid Classic is the best one that I use myself and I also think it’s the most versatile as well. However, if you need to do more than just stir in a bowl, then you should pick up a KitchenAid Plus model because it has all of the features that you would expect in a stand mixer and it can even hold attachments for other tasks.

Unfortunately there are no affordable alternatives to any of these models. If you want to go all out with a mixer that is as powerful as possible, then get the KitchenAid Professional 600 series (which is not the same one as this only comes in 350 watts).
