Food processors are perfect for a number of tasks in the kitchen, from chopping vegetables to cutting meat. The attachments rotate around the bowl at a much faster speed than what’s possible with a food processor, so it’s better at whipping the ingredients together into a light and fluffy consistency.

A stand mixer will be much more efficient at mixing bread dough or cake batter because of its attachments that rotate around the bowl. Do You Need Both A Food Processor & Stand Mixer?

When you purchase a stand mixer, I would get the mixer that has a bowl that can be removed and put into the dishwasher for easy cleaning. Then, when you have extra money and room in your kitchen, you can look into getting another appliance like a food processor.

These are all things that you would need to use an electric stand mixer instead of a food processor.
For example, you could use your stand mixer instead of your food processor to make delicious baked goods like muffins or pancake batter.
Do You Need A Food Processor If You Have A Mixer?
While it’s true that most stand mixers are electric, the same can’t be said about all food processors. Some of them are also stand mixers that have been broken down into smaller pieces and then covered with a body to look more like a food processor.
Food processors and stand mixers both come in many different sizes and shapes depending on what you’re looking for and if you already own an appliance like a blender, kitchen knife set or other things that you’re planning to use as well.
It’s a good idea to take some time and see what each appliance can do before you decide which one is right for you.
Can You Mix A Cake In A Food Processor?
A food processor can be used to mix a cake but it’s not the best option out there.
The blade rotation of a food processor will not actually mix the ingredients as much as it will blend them together into a puree. It will be perfectly fine for a cake like one that’s made with pudding, flour and other ingredients that can be pureed together into a smooth consistency. However, if you’re making a cake that has eggs in it, then you want to use your electric mixer instead. You would definitely not want to use your blender or food processor because you want the egg whites in order to whip them up into a foam.
A food processor is a very handy appliance to have in your kitchen but the thing that makes it different than a stand mixer is that it doesn’t have attachments like whisks or dough hooks to actually mix and blend things. This can make it hard to develop fluffier pastry mixes and will not be as useful when dealing with recipes that require you to whip up egg whites or knead dough.
With all of this said, there are some food processors out there that do come with attachments for whipping egg whites into a meringue and kneading dough so keep this in mind when you’re shopping for one.
